How to Create Backlinks for your Blog.

How to create backlinks for your blog? This is a big question that every bloggers and webmaster ask. The fact is that when we talked about backlinks we prefer to quantity rather than focusing on quality. In today’s competitive world, we have to focus on the quality of our backlinks that help us to rank better in search engines.

I personally believe that creating 1 quality backlink is more helpful than creating hundreds of junk and spam links. In this article, I am going to share you about the techniques of creating quality backlinks for your blog.

1. Guest Posting

Guest Posting is still a good and one of the best and effective ways to generate quality backlinks.  A few years back, I also afraid of doing guest posting on other blogs but that was a big misconception. Doing Guest Post on high authority blogs is very helpful to build your authority online. Here you have to keep few things in mind while doing Guest Posting:

  • Choose relevant Blogs.
  • Add Quality to the Post.
  • Always choose high authority blogs.
  • Avoid Self Promotion.

Guest Posting doesn’t mean that you choose any blog and submit your blog posts there. You have to choose a relevant site for guest posting. For example, You are on a health niche and operates a health and lifestyle blog. You have to choose a relevant blog that is similar to the health niche and lifestyle blog.

When you write a guest post, make sure you have added the same quality that you add on your own blog posts. This will help you to build your authority online.

High authority blogs are a platform for you to show your writing skills along with your experience. So, always keep these things in mind when you pitch for a guest post.

2. Blogger Outreach

Blogger outreach is a great way to build backlinks. The living example of an expert blogging outreach is Ryan Biddulph from Bloggingfromparadise.com. He is a master in blogging outreach and knows how to leverage it to build quality backlinks. I also recommend you to buy his eBooks to master your blogging skills.

Blogging Outreach definitely needs time and patience. You simply cannot ask a blogger to give you a backlink until he/she knows you personally. You have to build a good and strong relationship with them. Like and share their posts on social networks. Mention and feature them on your blog. This way you will get the attention from them.

Blogging world is very helpful if you are able to build a strong relationship with these bloggers. They are so helpful. I find myself so lucky to have this kind of helpful bloggers who help me to grow.

3. Blog Commenting

Technically blog commenting does not have any SEO value as most of the blog owners provide nofollow links to their comment section. But It will definitely count as a backlink. Practically, it won’t pass the link juice but it is a great source of building backlinks.

Blog commenting does not mean that you start spamming the blogs with keywords and links. This is a bad practice and believes me your comments will be trashed by the bloggers and also it will put in the spam section.

Always write in-depth and genuine comments that have added something extra to the content. Donna Merill is a great example as her comments are genuine and authentic. It always adds something extra to the content which helps the readers and starts an engaging conversation.

4. Web 2.0 Sites

Web2.0 sites are still one of the best ways to create quality backlinks. Some of the most popular web2.0 sites are Blogger, Medium, Tumblr, Quora, etc. These sites are a great source of creating quality backlinks.

Quora is definitely a great place to build links by helping others. Just answer the questions which are definitely helpful to the readers and link back the similar blog posts which users can read further.

Sites like Medium, Blogger, and Tumblr You can use content syndication to build backlinks. Just use the summary of your blog posts and use the link of your original article at read more option. I personally use this method and its really help me to build quality backlinks.

5. Social Networking Sites

Social networking sites do not have any direct SEO benefits but it is a great way to drive Traffic to your blog posts. Keep a habit of sharing your old and new blog posts on regular basis. It will give your blog posts some initial traction. Build your social media pages for your blog and Brand. Lisa Sicard is one of the best bloggers out there who knows the importance of Social Media. She has a great knowledge in this field. Social Media Influence is very important to build up your brand and presence in online world. You cannot ignore the social media sites in these days where companies are investing millions of dollars in social media promotion.

6. Videos

In this digital and competitive online world, you cannot ignore the power of visual marketing. Videos are one of them. With their growing demand Video is a great and effective mean of web promotion.  It is also a good way to build quality backlinks. Today Many Pro bloggers are focusing on Videos. They are doing live videos and also do videos on YouTube.

7. Directories

Web Directories are still effective. Since many of you know that directories are dead but this is not true at all. There are many high PR directories are still there and they one of the best source of gaining backlinks. Free directories are just fill up with junk sites and you should ignore them. Some of the old and highly trustable directories are now paid. So, you have to pay some fee to list your website/blog.

Conclusion

These are some of the best and effective ways to create quality backlinks for your blog and website. I hope you have found this post helpful. Don’t forget to share it with others. Do share your thoughts with us in the comment section.

Thanks for the mention on social media. It sure does build backlinks and drives traffic to a blog.
Video is another area I’m working on going forward. Ryan does that well as well as his outreach! All these methods do take time so people must have patience in building their blogs. Have a great day Vishwajeet!

  2. Hi Vishwajeet,
Firstly, thank you for the mention, it is greatly appreciated. Indeed, comments are my all time favorite way to create good backlinks. But I am lacking in guest posting these days. I have another niche site that is taking off at this moment and my attention has to be split between my two sites. However, I do plan on doing more guest posting once things settle down.

  3. Hey Vishwajeet.
great guide on effective and ethical link building.
I agree with you that directories are not dead. So true, the best ones give out some of the best links you can hope to get. And the largest benefit of all is that most bloggers never bother, because they think all directories are bad, and their mistake makes these links rare and extra valuable
    You agree?

  7. Hi Vishwajeet,

The article is well crafted and passed valuable content for us. And I want to add another method for getting quality backlinks through infographics. That either create an infographic in accordance with popular blog post on the internet. and let them know you have created the awesome graphical representation of your article, and let them decide to attach the image or share on the social networks. Or create independent infographics and share to the social medias and infographic submission sites. Lets wait for the result. After some days you have to search with you image and reach to the webmasters, who was using you image that, this was originally published on your site. And definitely they will give you some credit for your work.

    Cheers
    Shiju
